This is a slight detour from my normal posting, but I needed to share this. I had posted it on my cosistories.wordpress.com blog and I wanted to share it over here too.
My dad, Harutun Karian, died today.
He lived to be 80 years old, although you’d be hard pressed to guess his age. He looked like he could have been anywhere between 50-60 years old.
He was a good man with the personality of a golden retriever. He could elbow-prop with anyone and get their whole life story in one conversation. He loved his family and was proud of his children (four daughters, two sons) as well as his grandchildren (two granddaughters, two grandsons).
He was also proud of his Catholic faith and of his role in setting up the Infant of Prague Church in Bay City, Michigan.
He assisted my mom in teaching me and my five siblings at home. Math, algebra, and science were his strong points. If we had any difficulties with a math problem, we knew we could always save it for him and he’d help us…
