Part 2368 – Suitcases And So Much Love.

“I’m sorry, but I cannot stay here another minute. For another minute would be too long.” She flounced to the front door.

He held out his hands beseechingly. “But, Babushka! Our love is honest and pure. We are meant to be!”

Hildreth leaned forward. “Wow. This is good stuff.”

She turned sharply. Her hair va-roooshed! around her head. “That was true once, Alexei, but no more! Alas, our love is no more. It is a sad, old, lump of dirty coal that cannot be sparked into doing anything.”

“NO! Babushka! Don’t leave me!”

“I am sorry, but I must. I must leave.”

He flung himself down on his knees and shuffled his way over to her. “I would cross the Aegean Sea for you.”

“Of course, you would. You have a speedboat.”

“But—“

Hildreth snapped to attention as the front door opened. “Els?” He turned down the TV’s volume as Alexei bellowed out his despair. “Elsie?” He leaned back on the couch to catch sight of the hallway. “Is that you?”

Elsie dragged a couple of suitcases into the living room. Several strands of her frizzy hair stood up in badly drawn exclamation points. “Sorry I took so long. Most of your clothes were in your laundry room.”

“Oh? Did you pick them up and pack them?”

She gave him a scandalized look. “Hildreth. They were on the floor in the laundry room.”

“So?”

“I had to wash and dry them first.”

Hildreth laughed. “Of course.” He got up and walked over to her. “I love you, Elsie baby.”

She released the suitcases’ handles and slipped her hands under the collar of his bathrobe.

Her warm hands moved across his warm skin.

“Ah! Ah, Els. Els. If you aren’t careful, we’ll wind up in the shower all over again.”

“So?” She smiled and his heart fluttered madly. “Is that really a problem?”

“Uhh. Well. I uhh…”

She slid her hands up to his shoulders.

His mind shut down on him. All he could say was her name. So, he said it over and over as if it were a sacred mantra.

And then she kissed him.

Hildreth was happily, joyfully lost in her kiss. There was nothing he wanted more, no other place he wanted to be. He put his hands on her waist, but that wasn’t right. It wasn’t near enough. He put his arms around her and pulled her in closer.

Her hands moved along his shoulder line, up his neck, into his hair.

He laughed in giddy anticipation.

She released him. “We should have something to eat first.”

He nodded. There was a lot more he wanted to say, but he just nodded.

She took his hands and led him into the kitchen.

“So? We gonna do our lovering in here, Els?”

“No. It’s a kitchen. One shouldn’t do such things in the same room they eat their meals in. It just isn’t right.”

He laughed. “Dang! I love you so much.”

She kissed him again. “And I love you. I always will.”

“My Elsie.”

“My own wonderful idiot.”
