Preyuna transformed back into herself and watched Robin surrender to his day exhaustion. “What does he see in you, Robin? Why? Why should you be the one he wants? Why can’t it be me? What do you have that you can offer him?”
Isellta regarded her with wordless terror.
“Please! Please stop!”
“I don’t know why!”
He broke down into tears. “It hurts!”
Robin offered no answers nor explanations. He simply slept on.
Preyuna made a quick hand gesture.
A black and gold painted stake appeared in the air before her. She grabbed it and pressed the sharp tip right above his heart. It penetrated his tuxedo jacket and his dress shirt.
It touched his bare skin.
All she had to do was push strong and hard.
“He’s lovely when he laughs. He’s beautiful when he smiles. And when he hurts, it hurts me too.”
“I don’t love you. I only love Robin. I only want him.”
Her mouth tightened into an angry line.
“I love Robin and if I can’t see him again or talk to him again or…or be with him again…I don’t know. I don’t know what I’ll do.”
“I love Robin. I only love him. I don’t know what I would do if I can’t see him again. I love him. I don’t know what I would do. I don’t know. I don’t know. I love him. I don’t know. I love only him. I don’t know what I’ll do if I can’t talk to him again. I don’t know. I love only Robin. I can’t help it. I don’t love you. I love Robin….I don’t know what I would do. I only want him. I don’t love you.”
She pulled the stake out and crumbled it into black and gold dust. She dropped the fine pieces on the floor and made a quick swipe gesture.
The spell returned to full power.
Robin disappeared and the prison cell appeared to be empty.
Preyuna left the cell and locked the door behind her. She proceeded towards the stairs, carrying herself with a queen’s fierce pride and fiery dignity and plenty of vitriolic thoughts.
