Part 1697 – “Is Isellta Going To Be Okay?”

Jay smiled as Maelin kissed him again and again. “hmmm. This is nice.” He opened his eyes. “Thank you for coming back so fast. You don’t even know how much I missed you.”

She smiled lovingly at him. “I know, sweetheart. I missed you too.”

“How did you manage it?”

She kissed the full arch of his closest shoulder. “I happened to run across an ex-boyfriend of mine. An ex who just so happened to be a full dragon.” She ran her fingers across his collarbones. “We got to talking and he agreed to fly me back here.”

Jay frowned. “Did you have to—”

Someone turned on the hall light, which lit up his room much more than it should have.

Jay sat up.

A cold dread stole into his stomach.

His bedroom door was wide open.

“Isellta.” He grabbed his slacks off the floor and quickly pulled them on.

“What is it, Jay? What’s wrong?”

He stood and turned towards the bed.

Just as Preyuna came down on Isellta and kissed him. “Isellta, be mine. Just mine. Come back to me.”

He marched over to her side of the bed. “What the heck are you doing in my room?”

Preyuna gave him a look that teetered between bored and annoyed.

“Get out. Now.”

“Such a typical human. You ask me a question and don’t even let me answer it.” Preyuna got off the bed and readjusted her robe so she wouldn’t accidently flash Jay. “I came in here to see if I could help Isellta. But, of course, you don’t believe me. You’re no different than Mark’s other idiot guards. So certain that I am here to rape and molest Isellta.”

“You were kissing him without his permission.”

“Of course, I was. He’s mine. He belongs to me.”

Maelin came over to Jay, all dressed up in his guard robe.

Preyuna scoffed. “And here comes the peace dragon to run interference. How. Typical.”

“What did you do to Isellta?” Maelin asked.

Preyuna scowled at her. “Oh, just the usual. I slapped him around, raped him a couple of times—”

“You don’t need to be so sarcastic.” Maelin said with a steadfast calm.

“And you don’t even need to be here.”

“What did you do to him?” Jay asked.

“I cancelled the sickness spell I’d put on him. Not that either of you fools believe me. You’d much rather believe the worst about me. You don’t think I’m capable of—-”

“You removed it?”

Preyuna looked at Jay and clenched her hands into fists. “Yes.”

Jay went over to Isellta and touched his face and the side of his neck. “He doesn’t feel as hot as he did before. I think his fever’s gone.” He looked back at Preyuna. “Thank you. Is he going to wake up now? Is he going to be okay?”

Her hands unclenched. “I don’t know. In the ideal world, that would have been enough to wake him. But we both know this is nothing like an ideal world. We still have to wait for him to come to his senses and want to come back to us.” Hurt showed plain in her eyes. “We both know how likely that is.”

Jay didn’t reply.
