Part 1287 – Three Vampires In Church

Ambrose sat sandwiched between Robin and Raven in the pew.

It wasn’t quite how he had it planned out in his head.

He had planned to sit on the aisle seat so he have an unrestricted view of Barbara, who was sitting in the pew on the other side of the aisle.

It didn’t work out that way. Not only did he get boxed in by his fellow vampires, but Missy also had the audacity to claim the aisle seat next to Barbara.

So, I can’t touch her and I can’t even look at her.

Ambrose looked towards the tabernacle on the altar. White and gold embroidered brocade veiled the tabernacle door.

The church was so quiet. A gentle, patient quiet.

Ambrose knelt on the kneeler. He covered his face with his hands.

My Lord.

Help me.

It’s only three more days, but…It’s all so overwhelming. To see her and not to touch her. To talk to her and not to kiss her. What am I going to do? How am I going to maintain any control over myself? Am I going to slip into my old habits and demand what I want?

I don’t want to.

I don’t want to hurt her.

Oh, God! Help me. Don’t let me hurt her ever again. I love her.

I love her so much.

Robin glanced around in quiet wonder.

What would Isellta think about this place? It sure ain’t no cathedral with gargoyles and big boss pipe organs, but there’s plenty enough beauty here.

Robin looked up at the ceiling.

At the tabernacle lamp.

Huh. What do fey believe in? Can’t be Jesus Christ or Allah or anyone like that. It sure ain’t likely. Maybe they worship trees? No, that ain’t all that likely either.

He snorted softly.

Probably worship straight lines in some crazy what the heck religion.

But if he were here.

Robin’s heart hurt as he imagined it.

Isellta sittin’ next to me.

His eyes wide with wonder.

He’d get all happy and excited about random things. Like the sculpted lines in the statues’ gowns. He’d get himself so freakin’ excited he’d go flappin’ his wings

Stupid fey.

His wings would be too big to flap in this space. He’d have to stand in the aisle and flap ’em.

His heartache worsened.

It’s my fault he ain’t here.

I could have been kind to him.

I shoulda been.

He drew his shoulders forward.

I never should’ve hit him. It was the last thing I did. His last memory of me.

His eyebrows quilted up.

Does he have any good memories of me?

I don’t know.

I don’t…

‘sellta.

I’m sorry.

Raven took a deep breath and sighed.

Sunday.

Missy and I must wait until Sunday.

How am I going to do that? Should I take her before the wedding? No. I have no idea how long it will take.

Then, we will go after the wedding.

Yet, what about my plans with Robin? Would he be willing to wait? Hardly likely. He has waited such a long time as is. If he had to wait any longer, he would explode into a gory, fiery mess.

I will have to discuss it with him.

Raven glanced at Missy.

I hope it all turns out well.

I want to marry her.

I love her so.

If we are related…

If we cannot marry…

Raven looked straight ahead.

Dear Lord. Please.

I pushed Miss Farlington away from me because I believed that it was the right thing to do. Please. Please do not give me a good reason to push Missy away. I wish to marry her. Please.

He went down on his knees.

Please, Sir. Let me marry her.

I love her.

    1. 😆 And I’m over here, grinning like crazy in anticipation of your reaction to certain upcoming plot developments. I could hint at what they are or who they concern, but I think you’ll know which ones I mean when you get to them. 😉

        1. Thank you so much! 😀

Have I mentioned that I’m having a lot of fun writing this story? Because I totally am.

I never thought I’d be able to write a story with such a large cast of characters, much less find a way to balance all of their story lines. It can be a challenge sometimes. I always get super worried when a character has been off screen for too long. I automatically start thinking “Okay. How can I resolve this particular plot arc so I can get back to him/her?”

Oh, and small spoiler: In further ahead chapters, Father Landover gets a flashback and some interesting character reveals.
